An “altered book” is any book that has been up-cycled, recycled or creatively changed. Techniques used are considered mixed-media and include: painting, collage, stamping, gluing, stapling, and sewing among others. Areas of the book can be cut out providing windows and recessed niches. Often the original text of the book is incorporated into the new design.
In this class, I will show you how to take an existing book and alter it. We will be using vintage, old, antique and recycled items to create a one-of-a-kind book. We will walk through the steps and learn how to create different looks. We will learn, step by step, through the process of creating and painting the book cover, along with the inside pages.
